Beauty or beast?

The Vulturine Guineafowl (Acryllium vulturinum) has a bald head similar to a vulture but they also have spectacularly beautiful blue feathers. This last feature makes it one of our favourite birds and definitely a beauty. Research by Mpala Research Centre has found that the Vulturine Guineafowl lives in multilevel societies, a complex social structure, which up till now thought was a distinct feature of large-brained mammals like elephants, zebras and giraffes. So, although this beauty has small brains, it's a very interesting bird! Their geographic range is Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia and Ethiopia.
